Team PokerStars Online's Grzegorz "DaWarsaw" Mikielewicz has been playing at PokerStars since 2004. After becoming one of the greatest online players from his home country of Poland, he snagged a coveted spot on Team Online. Now, he's the subject of a short film that hit the small screen today.
He's a competitive guy at his core. If he's not playing poker or coaching it, he's playing or coaching soccer. If he's not doing that, he's probably bowling or playing basketball. Give the man a chance to compete, and he'll do it.
Now, as part of a series of short films about PokerStars greatest online stars, we have a chance to learn a little more about the man from Warsaw. A crew followed Mikielewicz for three days before deciding it had enough to tell the DaWarsaw story.
"The whole three days were great fun," Mikielewicz said. "I really liked all the guys from the crew and I was really happy being able to show them my home city. As far as I know they liked it a lot."
If the film is any indication, it appears Mikielewicz is correct.
It's also evident that Mikielewicz is still in love with the city where he was born and raised and from which he took his PokerStars screen name. When he was eleven years old, Poland was liberated from the Soviet Union.
"Since then I was able to watch how my city is changing, building after building, street by street," he said. "I was often going to places where I knew something new is about to be built and then coming back later to see the progress. My city was growing together with me."
Stay tuned later this week for an in-depth look at the man in the film. But for now, click that video above and see what all the fuss is about.
